Ingredients & Substitutions

Tortillas: I used plain flour tortillas for this recipe. But, you could certainly try some flavored tortillas (maybe a jalapeno or sundried tomato tortilla) next time.

Cream cheese: For easy spreading, room-temperature cream cheese is best.

Everything seasoning: Everything seasoning, also known as everything bagel seasoning, can be found with other spices at the grocery store. Or, make homemade for the most flavor!

Butter: I prefer unsalted butter for frying the tortilla bite. If making cream cheese tortilla bites in the air fryer, melt the butter to brush over each before air frying.

Can I Make Cream Cheese Tortilla Bites Ahead Of Time?

Sure! You can certainly get these tortilla bites filled, rolled, and cut a day in advance. After rolling and cutting, store the bites in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. When ready to pan-fry or air fry the bites, take them out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for a few minutes. Then, fry as instructed.

How To Store Cream Cheese Tortilla Bites

To store cream cheese tortilla bites, first, let them cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate the bites or freeze them.

To Refrigerate: Store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat the bites in the oven or an air fryer to best restore the crispiness. If reheated in the microwave, the tortilla bites may lose their crispiness.

To Freeze: To freeze, first, let the bites cool to room temperature. Then, store them in a freezer-safe container for up to 1-2 months. Reheat directly from frozen, no need to thaw first.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Spread the cream cheese evenly over the tortillas.
  • Sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon of everything seasoning. Roll up the tortillas and cut into 1-inch pieces. (I cut off the ends and cut the remaining into 6 pieces for a total of 36 bites. You could definitely use the ends, too.)
  • In a large nonstick pan over medium heat*, melt butter. Add the bites and cook for about 1 minute, or until golden brown. Flip and repeat with the opposite side.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

*Air Fryer Instructions:
  1. Assemble the tortilla bites as instructed.
  2. Melt butter.
  3. Brush melted butter over the bites.
  4. Place them in a single layer in your air fryer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to work in batches.
  5. Air fry the tortilla bites for 5-6 minutes at 400°F. You can flip the bites halfway through the cooking time, but don’t worry about it if you don’t; they will still be amazing!
  6. Serve warm.

Just made these and they were great! I used a mixture of cream cheese and a herb and garlic dip to make the cream cheese easier to spread on the tortilla. In my second batch I diced up cold cuts, peppers, and mushrooms (diced VERY finely) and added those into them, it was delicious! Also, since the ends have to be cut off before slicing your tortilla into rounds, I decided to cut the end pieces up into strips and stir fried them with butter, making them delicious and buttery mock tortilla chips haha!

  2. I did your turkey receipe for turkey with the herbed butter and bacon my turkey always comes out great but this time it was greater than great so so moist I will always use that receipe

The Everything seasoning I used (Stonemill) made the bites way too salty, so I experimented and found garlic powder and a small amount of freshly ground pepper worked great. I also used soft cream cheese spread with chive and onion from Aldi.

  4. Going to try these with very finely minced ham, cheddar and cream cheese for my mother in law who currently eats a toddler diet, anything with cheese, it BETTER be small, tiny is even better! These look to fit the bill and I’ve never seen a “hot” version of this idea. I love all your bakery posts on facebook. Please keep on sharing your passion!

Try this with shredded cheese and garlic herb cream cheese instead of original. 🤌🏼 You will not be disappointed, I promise.

    1. Hi Rich, Do you mean mixed in with the cream cheese or on the outside of the tortilla? (I’m assuming you mean instead of using the everything-seasoning)

  6. Do you think I can add a vegetable (like minced bell pepper or maybe a bit of spinach) to it? I’d love to try this with my child.

Good recipe!!! I chop shrimp and saute them in butter with a little
red pepper flakes and then add to cream cheese mixture.
Chop the shrimp enough to roll up

  8. I have made versions of these but I six the seasonings in the cream cheese before spreading on the tortilla. It seems to be mixed more evenly. other good tasty add in are sun dried tomatoes, parsley, chopped part of green onions, shopped red or green chili or anything your imagination can create. By meting it in the cream cheese before spreading you get a more even spread. Makes your taste buds jump up & yell WOOPIE!

Thanks for the recipe…so good!!! I modified a bit to recreate an appetizer made for us on a recent river rafting trip…mixed in a can of salmon as well as chopped green onions, cut back a little on the everything seasoning. Mine ended up too big of rounds, so I’ll probably cut the tortillas in half before rolling next time. Also, I fried as directed, then finished in the oven at 375 for 10 minutes to crisp them up even more.

  10. These are really good. I shredded up some cheddar Colby and mozzarella and added. Great recipe for a quick snack 😋
