- 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 5 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups shredded beef*
- 1 medium white onion, finely diced (about 1 cup)
- ¼ cup freshly chopped cilantro
- 1 medium jalapeno pepper, seeded, finely diced
- 1 cup queso fresco, crumbled
- 1 cup (241 g) shredded beef juice, warmed (this is the juice that is with the meat when you make it), divided
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 7×11-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.
Split your rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in the baking dish.
On top of the bottom halves of the buns, add the slices of cheese, shredded beef, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, and queso fresco.
Place the top halves of the rolls on top of the filling.
Brush the tops of the rolls with shredded beef juice, reserving the rest for dipping.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is hot and bubbly.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops of the sliders turn a golden brown.
Remove the sliders from the oven and slice them. Serve the sliders with the remaining shredded beef juice for dipping. Enjoy!
Recipe for Lazy Man’s Birria (called Shredded Beef) It’s quite easy to make and perfect in these sliders.
If you don’t want to make your own shredded beef, you can find it precooked at some supermarkets. I recommend something like this, Hormel Beef Roast Au Jus. This is not as flavorful as the homemade, but you can always add more seasoning. You can also purchase Birria meat, which may be packaged as a stew or shredded. Just make sure you save the sauce.
