Spaghetti Pizza

Ingredients

Spaghetti Topping

  • 1 pound (16 ounces) spaghetti noodles
  • pound  ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon  black pepper
  • 1 small  yellow onion,  chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper,  diced
  • 3 teaspoons garlic,  minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (16 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 ounce) tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons  dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons  dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Italian Focaccia Bread Crust

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ksoher salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oiI
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning, divided
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425° Fahrenheit.

Spaghetti Topping

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook to package instructions.
  • Combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, onion, and green pepper in a large saucepan. Cook and stir until meat is brown and vegetables are tender. Drain grease.
  • Add the garlic and cook for one minute, or until fragrant.
  • Stir the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste into the pan. Season with oregano, basil, and sugar. Simmer the spaghetti sauce for 20 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Italian Focaccia Bread Crust

  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook add water, flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and salt. Mix on medium speed until dough forms a ball.
  • Add the olive oil to a 13-inch skillet. Plop the dough into the oiled skillet and spread to a 1/2-inch thickness, making sure there are no holes. Season with, garlic salt, and remaining Italian seasoning.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and return to oven. Bake until just golden, or about 5 minutes.

Spaghetti Pizza

  • Remove the Focaccia Crust from the oven and top with cooked noodles and spaghetti sauce. Slice and serve.
