Ingredients

  • 2 medium cabbage heads, cored and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • ¾ cup American cheese, shredded
  • ¾ cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • ½ tablespoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon kosher
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Steam the cabbage, working in batches if necessary.
  • In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Add the cabbage and stir to coat.
  • Spoon the cabbage into a large casserole dish, packing down, if necessary, to make the cabbage flush with the dish.
  • Sprinkle with the cheeses and bake for 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve.
