Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease melted
  • 2 tablespoon butter melted and cooled
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the butter, bacon grease, honey, buttermilk, and eggs until combined.
  4. Pour the flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until combined. Transfer to the prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
