- 8 ounces cavatappi pasta
- 1 pound mild Italian sausage
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened, cubed
- ½ cup (57 g) mozzarella cheese shredded
- ½ cup (50 g) parmesan cheese finely grated, divided
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- parsley, chopped for garnish
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add cavatappi pasta and cook until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
To a large skillet over medium heat, add sausage. Cook until no longer pink (8-10 minutes), breaking up the sausage as you go. Drain excess grease if necessary.
To the skillet with the sausage, add marinara, cream cheese, mozzarella, ¼ cup of parmesan, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cream cheese is incorporated into the dish.
Add the cooked pasta and stir to combine. If needed, add a small amount of the reserved pasta water until the dish reaches your desired consistency.
Garnish with the remaining parmesan and parsley.
