Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked (9-inch) pie crust, homemade or store-bought
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced (about ½ cup)
  • 2 packets (1 ounce each) taco seasoning, about ¼ cup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup (113 g) Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup (113 g) mild cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos

Optional Toppings

  • salsa
  • sour cream
  • tomatoes, diced
  • lettuce, shredded
  • cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • On a floured surface, roll out the pie crust dough into a circle a little larger than a 9-inch pie plate. Place the rolled-out dough into the pie plate, cutting away any excess crust. Flute or crimp the edges and place the crust in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.
  • To a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up as you go, and the onion is softened (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  • To the skillet with the beef and onion, add taco seasoning and water. Stir to combine and until the water is absorbed.
  • Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the pie crust. Top with both cheeses.
  • Bake for 22-27 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the oven. Top with crushed Doritos.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and cilantro.
