- 1 unbaked (9-inch) pie crust, homemade or store-bought
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced (about ½ cup)
- 2 packets (1 ounce each) taco seasoning, about ¼ cup
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup (113 g) Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 1 cup (113 g) mild cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos
Optional Toppings
- salsa
- sour cream
- tomatoes, diced
- lettuce, shredded
- cilantro, chopped
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
On a floured surface, roll out the pie crust dough into a circle a little larger than a 9-inch pie plate. Place the rolled-out dough into the pie plate, cutting away any excess crust. Flute or crimp the edges and place the crust in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.
To a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up as you go, and the onion is softened (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
To the skillet with the beef and onion, add taco seasoning and water. Stir to combine and until the water is absorbed.
Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the pie crust. Top with both cheeses.
Bake for 22-27 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven. Top with crushed Doritos.
Serve with salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and cilantro.
