This warm, ultra-savory Bacon Jam Dip is the cozy appetizer you’ll want on repeat all season. It starts with a skillet of my homemade onion bacon jam, already packed with caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and sweet-savory depth. (There is a reason it is so popular!) Then it’s folded with cream cheese, sour cream, and fresh green onions for the creamiest, most irresistible dip. It’s simple, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for game day (add it to your list of Super Bowl Foods), holiday parties, or any time you want a guaranteed hit on the snack table. Ingredients & Substitutions
- Onion Bacon Jam: Use one full batch of my homemade onion bacon jam. This forms the savory base of the dip. If you’re short on time, a high-quality store-bought bacon jam works, but the flavor won’t be quite as rich.
- Sour Cream: Adds tang and helps loosen the mixture. Greek yogurt is the best substitute if needed.
- Cream Cheese: 1/2 a block (4 ounces) of cream cheese makes the dip thick, creamy, and scoopable. Full-fat gives the silkiest texture, but reduced-fat works in a pinch.
- Green Onions: Freshly sliced green onions add brightness and balance. You can swap with finely minced chives.
- Salt & Pepper: Season to taste; your bacon jam may already be salty enough.

FAQs
Can I use store-bought bacon jam?
Yes, but homemade has a deeper, richer flavor. If using store-bought, taste before seasoning; many brands run sweeter or saltier.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes! You can prepare the dip up to a day in advance. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop and stir until smooth before serving.
Can I make the bacon jam ahead?
Absolutely. The bacon jam itself can be made up to two weeks in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to assemble the dip, warm the bacon jam first; it blends more easily with the cream cheese and sour cream.
Can I serve this cold?
Yes! We tested this dip both warm and chilled. Both versions were delicious, but the warm dip won by a little. Warm is melty and creamy, while chilled is thicker and more spreadable.
Can I double the recipe?
Yes. Simply double all ingredients while still reserving about 1/2 cup of bacon jam per batch for topping.

Serving Ideas
- With crostini (toasted baguette) or crackers: The warm, creamy texture pairs perfectly with a crisp bite. You will also like my Bacon Jam Crostini!
- With veggies: Sliced cucumbers, carrots, and mini peppers keep things fresh and crunchy. The dip is perfect to add to your vegetable tray!
- On a snack board: Pair with homemade pretzel bites, cheeses, and roasted nuts for an easy appetizer spread.

How To Store Bacon Jam Dip
Refrigerator: Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Warm gently before serving if you prefer it melty and creamy.
Freezer: I do not recommend freezing this dip; dairy-based dips tend to become grainy after thawing.
Room Temperature: Keep out for up to 2 hours during serving.
