Ah, the famous Chocolate Frosty. Does it get any better than the creamy cool deliciousness of made-from-scratch chocolate frosty? And, if you don’t feel like making one from scratch, I have delicious homemade chocolate frosty you can make in a blender!
Wendy’s Classic Chocolate Frosty
One of our absolute guilty pleasures has to be the chocolate frosty from Wendy’s. Because of where we live, anytime the craving hits we have to drive quite a ways to our nearest Wendy’s. Thankfully, we’ve stumbled on a homemade version so we can make homemade chocolate frosty’s anytime, with just three ingredients!
Best of all, we can customize it any way we like! Try it with sprinkles, nuts, and even fudge! This homemade chocolate frosty recipe is perfection. Even if it is cold where you live (and it is COLD here) you can save it for a warmer day. But I am a midwestern girl and we have never been shy about our love of ice cream in the winter!
Easy Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty Recipe
I noted in the recipe that you can add all the ingredients to a bowl and just stir until combined. You can also use a hand-held mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Your goal is to just make sure that the ingredients are really incorporated!
I have also used a store-bought whipped topping. Sometimes I like to make my whipped topping from scratch, but not in a recipe that is using sweetened condensed milk.
How to Make a Chocolate Frosty from Scratch
I know how much homesteaders love to indulge in homemade treats, so here is the from-scratch recipe.
Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 (12 ounces) can evaporated milk
Directions: Pour the sugar into the milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and allow to cool before using.
Once you have made your sweetened condensed milk, you will want to make your whipped topping.
Homemade Whipped Topping
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar
Directions: In a large bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks just barely form. Add in vanilla and sugar until stiff peaks form. Make sure not to over-beat, cream will then become lumpy and butter-like.
Add the homemade sweetened condensed milk, the chocolate milk, and the homemade whipped topping, and freeze! You now have a from-scratch Chocolate Frosty.
No Ice Cream Maker? No Problem!
If you do not have an ice cream maker, you can also place the ingredients in a sealable container and set them in the freezer for at least 8 hours. With this method, you can also check it and serve it at the consistency you prefer! And, don’t forget about my chocolate frosty you can make in a blender in just a couple of minutes!
