Air Fryer Bacon will be your new favorite way to cook crispy bacon with easy clean-up! It will be perfect for all your recipes that call for bacon like this Fried Egg BLT!
Air Fryer Bacon
Bacon can definitely cause a greasy mess, but not when using an air fryer. And, it is faster than baking it in the oven. Don’t worry about the bacon not being crispy; it turned out perfectly! Be sure to get some cooked for International Bacon Day on September 3rd!
What Style of Air Fryer is Best?
Air fryers usually come with a basket or a tray, so we tested the bacon in both. In the basket, the bacon tended to shrivel up because the airflow was much stronger. It did cook up nice and crispy, but it won’t give you the flat strips of bacon like cooking it on a tray in an air fryer. But if you are just going to crumble up the bacon (Wedge Salad, anyone?), the basket is fine. If adding to sandwiches, cook them on the tray. In both cases, wipe out any grease between batches.
Can I Use Thick-Cut Bacon?
Sure! Although I used regular strips of bacon, you could use thick-cut if preferred. If you do cook thick-cut bacon in the air fryer, you will need to add 1-2 additional minutes to the cooking time. Another tip would be to flip over the slices of thick-cut bacon halfway through cooking.
What is the Best Temperature for Cooking Bacon in an Air Fryer?
To prevent smoking, I cooked the bacon at 350°F. If you get much hotter than that, the grease will start to smoke before the bacon has completely cooked.
Air Fryer Bacon
Ingredients
- 12 ounces bacon, each strip cut in half
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
- Place bacon in a single layer into the basket of your air fryer. Cook for 9-11 minutes, or until crispy. (You may need to work in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer. Just be sure to wipe out any bacon grease between batches to prevent smoking.)
- Place bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve.

I like to save my bacon grease for seasoning vegs, etc..Should I catch it with something below the basket or what do you suggest? Thanks for all your posts they are so helpful. Have a great day.
You can line the basket with parchment and then you will be able to save it. 🙂
My air fryer is a big toaster oven style with the double opening doors. So there are the heating elements below. How would I properly cook the back on? Still in a basket or on the pan with the insert for draining?
So I don’t need to worry about grease popping in the air fryer and having a mess to clean up ?
Where did I say that? You are making bacon. It will produce grease.
New with airfryer, made the most crispy pork sausages last night (1st meal) and my wife was totally impressed.

How did you cook the pork sausage in the air fryer? Temp and time. Thank you.
My air fryer is in my oven. Can I still do bacon? I’ve never used it. But I would to try this.
