This Cheeseburger Dip gives you all of the flavors and fixings of a classic cheeseburger but in a delicious warm dip. The appetizer is perfect for game day or sharing at a party or gathering. Cheeseburger Dip Ingredients & Smart Substitutions

  • Meat: To keep with a classic burger, I used ground beef. Ground turkey or ground chicken would also be a good option to try. It is seasoned with hamburger seasoning.
  • Velveeta: Velveeta, a processed cheese, melts into a smooth and creamy consistency. You can make your own Velveeta if preferred! Or, if you do not want to use it, you could substitute cheddar cheese or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  • Tomatoes: For a little kick to each bite, I used a can of diced tomatoes with green chilies. Pick out your favorite variety of canned tomatoes to use. Do not drain them; the liquid adds flavor and keeps the dip from being too thick. (It is a dip on the thicker side.)
  • Mozzarella: The more cheese, the better! If you don’t have mozzarella, Monterey Jack or Colby Jack have a similar flavor and melt well.
  • Onion: Red onions add a mild, sweet flavor. A white or yellow onion would also work. If you don’t usually add onions to your cheeseburger, just leave it out.
  • Pickles: If you love pickles, add as many as you would like! Or, leave them out of the dip if you are not a pickle person.
  • Bacon: I like thick-cut bacon so I can taste it in this dip. And, you can bake bacon ahead of time so it’s ready to go into the dip. Regular or turkey bacon would also work. So, it’s like a bacon cheeseburger dip! Of course, you can leave out the bacon if you want to.

Customize Your Cheeseburger Dip: Easy Recipe Variations To Try

I love this cheeseburger dip, but it’s easy to add other ingredients to satisfy your taste buds! Here are some ideas:

  • Jalapeno peppers (for a spicy kick)
  • Bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Hot Sauce
  • Spinach
  • Sour cream or cream cheese for an even creamier consistency (but it is already pretty creamy)
  • Diced ham or sausage

Easy Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Dip

To make this cheeseburger dip in a slow cooker, first, brown the ground beef. Next, add the cooked ground beef to the bowl of a slow cooker. Then, add Velveeta, tomatoes, mozzarella, onions, and hamburger seasoning. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until the cheeses are melted and everything is well combined. Stir it a few times during cooking. In the final 15-20 minutes of cooking time, add the pickles and bacon (if using). Keep the dip at the ‘warm’ setting so it’s ready to serve at your party!

Storing & Reheating Cheeseburger Dip

If you have any leftovers of the dip (and that is a big IF), it’s easy to store and reheat for later.

To Store: To store the dip, first, let it cool to room temperature. Then, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

To Reheat: When ready to enjoy, microwave it in a microwave-safe dish for 1-2 minutes, stirring halfway through, or warm it on the stovetop over medium heat, stirring frequently. You can also reheat it in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes or in a slow cooker on low for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Try this irresistible Cheeseburger Dip recipe for your next gathering. All the flavors of a classic cheeseburger in a warm, creamy dip!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 16 ounces Velveeta, cubed
  • 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
  • 1 cup (113 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 small red onion, diced (about ½ cup)
  • 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
  • 4 dill pickles, finely diced (about ½ cup)
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  • To a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook, breaking the meat up as you go, until the beef is no longer pink (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease from the pan.
  • Add Velveeta, tomatoes, mozzarella, onions, and hamburger seasoning. Stir to combine. Continue cooking until the cheese is fully melted (about 5 minutes).
  • Fold in the pickles and bacon.
  • Serve warm with tortilla chips or potato chips.
