If you are looking for an irresistible snack or appetizer with a spicy kick, try this Buffalo Ranch Pigs in a Blanket recipe! Buffalo-coated cocktail sausages are wrapped in crescent dough, baked (or air-fried) to golden perfection, and brushed with ranch butter. I like to serve them with extra buffalo sauce for drizzling and ranch dressing for dipping. I also have full-sized Pigs in a Blanket, made with puff pastry wrapped around cheddar cheese, and pan-seared hot dogs. Any or all of these will surely ‘hog’😜 all of the attention at your next party!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Dough: Using store-bought crescent dough makes this recipe super easy! Look for a sheet of crescent roll dough (not the perforated dough), if possible. Easy pizza crust dough could also work, but the baking time may need to be adjusted.
- Cocktail Sausages: Cocktail sausages are smaller than regular sausage links, and you will need 24 of them for this recipe. If you prefer, you can also use hot dogs, cut into smaller pieces that will peek out from the dough once wrapped.
- Buffalo Sauce: For the most flavor, make homemade buffalo sauce. (Then, you can control how hot–or not–you want it!) Or, look for store-bought buffalo sauce (not hot sauce). It coats the cocktail sausages and is drizzled over the baked pigs in a blanket.
- Ranch Butter: The ranch butter is made by mixing melted butter with ranch seasoning mix and parsley. It adds a creamy, herby flavor that makes the pigs in a blanket extra delicious! Brush it on top of the warm pigs in a blanket after they have been baked.
- Ranch Dressing: Serve the pigs in a blanket with ranch dressing for dipping. The cool ranch flavor helps balance the spicy buffalo sauce. I also love blue cheese with buffalo and buffalo chicken recipes—either dip works perfectly here!
Make-Ahead Buffalo Ranch Pigs In A Blanket
To get a head start on this appetizer, get the buffalo ranch pigs in a blanket assembled ahead of time. Here is how:
- Assemble them: Follow the recipe steps, but instead of baking, place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet and cover them tightly with plastic wrap or foil.
- Refrigerate: Store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
- Bake: When ready to bake, simply brush them with the beaten egg and bake as directed. If they’ve been in the refrigerator for a while, you may need to add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
How To Store & Reheat Buffalo Ranch Pigs In A Blanket
Although best served warm and fresh, you can store any leftover Buffalo Ranch Pigs in a Blanket in the refrigerator. Keep them in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for the best results.
How To Freeze Pigs In A Blanket
It is easy to freeze pigs in a blanket before or after baking them! Here is how:
Before Baking: Assemble the pigs in a blanket, freeze them on a baking sheet until firm, then transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag. Bake directly from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
After Baking: Let the baked pigs in a blanket cool completely, then store them in an airtight container or freezer bag. Reheat in the oven or air fryer until warmed through and crispy.

Buffalo Ranch Pigs In A Blanket
Ingredients
- 1 tube (8 ounces) crescent roll dough
- 24 links cocktail-sized sausages
- ⅓ cup (84 g) buffalo sauce
- 1 large egg, beaten
Ranch Butter
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon dry ranch seasoning mix
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
For Serving
- buffalo sauce, for drizzling
- ranch dressing, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.* Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, toss the cocktail sausages with buffalo sauce until fully coated. Set aside.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough in half lengthwise, then cut each rectangle into 12 strips (about 2 inches each). You should have 24 strips in total.
- Wrap each sausage with a strip of dough, sealing the edges. Place them seam-side down on the baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Brush the top of each wrapped sausage with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
- While baking, mix together the melted butter, ranch seasoning, and parsley.
- Once out of the oven, brush each pig in a blanket with the ranch butter while still warm.
- Drizzle with buffalo sauce and serve with ranch dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Follow the assembly instructions for the Buffalo Ranch Pigs in a Blanket.
- Instead of baking, place a few pigs in a blanket into the basket of your air fryer. (Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to work in batches.)
- Air fry at 325°F for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Don’t forget to brush with ranch butter after air frying!
