Ingredients & Substitutions

CrustI prefer my homemade thin pizza crust. It is super simple, doesn’t require rise time, and is ready in under 30 minutes. You could also buy pizza dough at the store. If you prefer a thicker crust, you will have to increase the baking time.

Garlic SauceThis homemade garlic sauce is AMAZING, but it isn’t just for pizzas. In fact, it is a delicious dipping sauce and can give everything from bread to chicken some added flavor!

Pickles: Thinly sliced dill pickles were preferred on this pizza. But, you can cut them as thick as you would like! You could also buy dill pickle chips.

Cheese: I used shredded mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese on top of the pizza.

Additional Toppings: If you like protein on your pizza, add some ham or Canadian bacon!

Can I Make Pickle Pizza Ahead of Time?

You can certainly get parts of the pizza made ahead of time. The garlic sauce can be made and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. As for the crust dough, it can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Ingredients

Garlic Sauce

  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • ¾ cup (172.5 g) sour cream
  • ¼ cup (58 g) mayonnaise
  • 1-2 teaspoons water
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Pizza

  • 1 package (13 ounces) thin-crust pizza dough, or homemade pizza dough
  • 2-3 dill pickles, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (113 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup (25 g) parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

Garlic Sauce

  • In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients until creamy and smooth.

Pizza

  • Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. You can use a pizza stone or baking sheet. I like to line mine with parchment.
  • Top with the garlic sauce, sliced pickles, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 16-20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the crust is golden brown. Let the pizza sit for about 3 minutes before cutting and serving.

    1. Most any method works. I like to pop it into the air fryer for a few minutes if I have time.

  1. I have made this pizza before everyone seemed leery to try it but after small tastes it was declared delicious.

  2. This recipe is better than the restaurant pizza I was hoping to come close to! Thank you!

We sprinkled some dried dill after cooking for a bit more color.
    So good!

My family and I LOVE this recipe! The second time I made it I subbed pickle juice instead of water, doubled the garlic, and added 1/2tsp dried dill to the sauce. I sprinkled a handful of fresh chopped dill after I spread the sauce on the crust and topped the pizza with bacon crumbles before it went in the oven. I highly recommend measuring the pickles with your heart! The adjustments took this recipe to the next level. My family is obsessed!

  4. The garlic sauce was over the top good! I used Naan bread for the crust and put it in my air fryer for 7 minutes! Yum!!

I loved, loved, Loved the garlic sauce. Truly great. I also loved the pizza itself. My son’s enjoyed it as well…their only criticism was the did not like the pickles in big chunks. I think next time I will chop them small. With that being said, personal preference, this is a fantastic recipe if you like pickles and garlic. Thank you for sharing. Definitely will make this again.

My family had pickle pizza for the first time at a music festival during the fall of 2022 and everyone raved about it! I started to look for a recipe recently after reminiscing about this festival and stumbled upon a few but put my hopes on this one because the simple homemade sauce was enticing. I made it today and it blew us away! We loved every bite! It’s a definite do-again! : )

Oh my goodness this was so easy and simply DELICIOUS! We’ve never had or even heard of pickle pizza before I stumbled upon your recipe. My husband loves pickles and LOVES pizza even more, so I had to give this a try. H LOVED IT! I used instant dry yeast vs active, since that’s all we had. I added a couple extra cloves of garlic to the garlic sauce and sprinkled some red pepper flakes on top when it came out of the oven but other than that followed your recipe exactly. I even made your pizza crust recipe and baked the crust for 5 min before putting the toppings on. This was just SUPERB! I usually Doctor up frozen pizzas when I’m feeling too lazy to cook but with this recipe that will be a thing of the past. Definitely going into the weekly rotation.THANK YOUUUUUUUU!!!

So, the first time I had Pickle pizza was last yr in NY. I was freaking out! I looked and tried several recipes but yours was by far the best one. I did add feta and some spinach and I will never eat another pizza ever again… except if I’m in NY! Thank you so much!

I love pickle pizza – but the real MVP of this recipe is the pizza sauce. I make pickle pizzas and Greek pizzas with it. If you throw some red onion, feta, mozzarella, and tomatoes on top it is absolutely fantastic. I seriously use it all the time.

I’ve made this recipe too many times to count. The only thing I change is adding a second garlic clove to the sauce and some red pepper flakes to the top for a little spice. What a delicious recipe!
