Avocado Cream Sauce

This sauce is so simple to make and is packed with delicious flavors. Be sure to use a blender or food processor for best results. They fully combine everything. You can also use a mortar and pestle, however, will need to work in batches depending on the size.

Sauce Ingredients

Avocado: Avocados are a fruit that many consider to be a superfood. It is high in healthy fats, very nutritious, and has a nice flavor and texture. I will let you know how to pick out a perfectly ripe avocado below.

Lime Juice: I prefer freshly squeezed lime juice, but bottled works just as well! If you prefer a thinner sauce, additional lime juice, up to one whole lime, could be added as well.

Cilantro: I love the freshness that cilantro adds to this sauce, but if you prefer less or no cilantro flavor, you could reduce the amount by half, or leave it out altogether.

Jalapeño: This gives the sauce a nice spicy kick! If you want a little less heat, I suggest either using only one jalapeño, or leaving it out if preferred.

How to Tell When an Avocado is Ripe

Generally, the way the avocado feels is more important than how it looks. Gently press into the avocado near the stem; it should feel soft, but not mushy. If a dent is present after pressing it, the avocado is likely overripe.

How to Use Avocado Cream Sauce

This sauce is a great addition to many dishes including tacos, sheet pan meals, quesadillas, or even just as a dip with tortilla chips! This would also make a wonderful salad dressing. Or, grab a spoon!

How to Store Avocado Cream Sauce

This will last in a sealed container in the refrigerator for about two days. After the two days you may notice that the avocado in the sauce begins to brown. A trick to slow the browning is to put plastic wrap directly over the top of the sauce, keeping as much air out as possible.

While you’re grabbing ingredients for this awesome recipe, be sure to pick up a few extra avocados to make my avocado corn salsa and avocado chicken salad.
