Ravioli Soup is a hearty and flavorful dish that combines ground beef, Italian sausage, marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, and a variety of cheeses with cheese-filled ravioli. If you love satisfying and filling soups and love pasta, this will be one of your new favorite soups! And, it’s made in one pot! I also have a delicious one-pot Lasagna Soup you will love!
Ingredients & Substitutions
Meat: I added both ground beef and Italian sausage to the soup. Both add protein and texture to the soup with the Italian sausage adding robust, seasoned flavors. You could all of one kind of meat if preferred. I like the well-rounded flavor they provide when combined.
Marinara Sauce: Choose your favorite brand of marinara sauce. I have a delicious homemade Marinara Sauce or Five Cheese Marinara that you may want to try!
Beef Broth: Beef broth is part of the base of the soup, adding a depth and savory undertone.
Tomatoes: Crushed tomatoes are added to the soup for a thick, textured consistency.
Ravioli: With ravioli as the name of the soup, we can’t forget about that! I added frozen cheese ravioli to the soup. But, you could certainly use fresh ravioli, too. Simply adjust the cooking time according to package instructions. You could also try other ravioli flavors like spinach ricotta, meat, or mushroom, just to name a few. If you are feeling motivated, make homemade five-cheese ravioli to add to the soup!
Cheese: Three kinds of cheese, mozzarella, romano, and parmesan, are melted in the soup for a rich, gooey texture.
What To Serve With The Soup
Ravioli soup is a hearty soup that pairs well will quite a few side dishes. Here are some options you may want to try:
- Garlic Breadsticks or Garlic Knots
- Wedge Salad
- Focaccia Bread
- Roasted Vegetables (carrots, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, or green beans)
- Zucchini Chips
How To Store Ravioli Soup
To store ravioli soup, first, let it cool to room temperature. Next, store it in an airtight container (or portion out to smaller containers) to keep in the refrigerator. It will last up to 2-3 days. Reheat the soup on the stovetop or in the microwave.
Can I Freeze Ravioli Soup?
Yes, you can freeze ravioli soup, but freeze it without the ravioli. To freeze the soup, prepare it as instructed (without adding ravioli). Then, let it cool to room temperature. Store it in freezer-safe containers or bags, leaving a little room at the top for expansion. It can be frozen for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, cook the ravioli separately, according to package instructions. Then, add the ravioli to the warm soup.
Ravioli Soup
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced (about 1 cup)
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 cups (32 ounces) beef broth
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 bag (25 ounces) frozen cheese ravioli

Instructions
- To a large pot over medium heat, add oil.
- When the oil is hot, add onions, ground beef, Italian sausage, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, breaking up the meat as you go, until the meat is no longer pink (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in marinara sauce, beef broth, and crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine and bring the soup to a simmer.
- Once simmering, add ravioli and cook for 4-6 minutes, or until done, gently stirring occasionally to avoid breaking the ravioli.
- Reduce heat to low. Add in heavy cream, mozzarella cheese, romano cheese, and parmesan, stirring until the cheeses are fully melted.
- Garnish with parsley and parmesan cheese as desired. Enjoy!
