Whiskey Bacon Jam Deviled Eggs Ingredients & Substitutions

Eggs: You will need a dozen eggs for this recipe. If you are worried about hard-boiling the eggs, I will let you know how to make sure they come out perfectly.

Mayonnaise: If you don’t have any on hand, make homemade mayonnaise to use.

Mustard: Yellow mustard is commonly used in deviled egg recipes to add a tangy flavor that pairs well with the other ingredients.

Whiskey Bacon Jam: The star of these eggs is the homemade whiskey bacon jam. Once you try it, you will want to have some on hand for other recipes as well! It’s a savory jam that is delicious on sandwiches, grilled meats, as well as a topping for appetizers like crackers or cheese platters. And, of course, it’s amazing in these deviled eggs.

Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs

If you are worried about perfectly hard-boiled eggs, I have you covered. For easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs:

  1. In a large pot, cover the eggs with cold water. (There should be about half an inch of water on top of the eggshells.)
  2. Next, bring the water to a boil, stirring occasionally to balance the egg yolks.
  3. Cover and remove the pot from the heat.
  4. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 14 minutes.
  5. Pull the eggs out and immediately shock them with an ice bath for about 5 minutes.
  6. To help with removing the shells, place the eggs under cool water while peeling.

Can I Hard-Boil The Eggs Ahead Of Time?

Sure! If you want to get a head start on the deviled eggs, hard-boil the eggs in advance. Then, store them in an airtight container, unpeeled, in the refrigerator for up to a week. Keep in mind that if you store the eggs ahead of time, once you make the deviled eggs, they should be served right away.

How To Store Whiskey Bacon Jam Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs will last up to 4 days in the refrigerator. However, I prefer to enjoy them within a day or two. When serving, do not let them sit out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

These unique Deviled Eggs are a delicious twist on the classic appetizer made with the richness of homemade whiskey bacon jam complementing the egg yolk mixture. They are sure to be a hit at any gathering or a special treat for yourself!

Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup whiskey bacon jam, divided
  • 1-2 tablespoons chives, chopped for garnish
  • kosher salt, to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot, arrange the eggs in one layer. Fill with water until about ½-inch above the eggs.
  • Bring the water to a boil, stirring occasionally to balance the yolks. Cover, and remove from the heat. Let the eggs rest in the pan for 14 minutes.
  • While the eggs are cooking, prepare an ice-water bath in a large bowl. After resting, use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs to the ice water bath. Let cool for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Peel the eggs under water and pat dry with a paper towel. Using a sharp knife, halve the eggs lengthwise. Use a small spoon to gently remove the cooked yolks. Add the yolks to a medium bowl and set the egg whites aside.
  • To the yolks, add mayonnaise, mustard, and 1 tablespoon of bacon jam. Mash the yolks with a fork. Stir to combine.
  • Pipe (or spoon) the yolk mixture into each of the egg white wells. Top with a small dollop of whiskey bacon jam and chives.
  • Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

These deviled eggs are to die for! They are seriously so good. The bacon jam adds a sweetness that balances so perfectly with the savory nature of the deviled eggs. I've never had anything like it!

Elizabeth

What a super tasty twist on deviled eggs, which I absolutely love! The whiskey bacon jam can stand on its own (so make some for more than these eggs), but is so good when added to deviled eggs!

Selena

I just love how this bacon jam elevates a simple deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are already one of my favorite things and am so delighted with the addition of the bacon jam!

  1. 5 stars
I was recently in Washington DC for work and had bacon jam deviled eggs and had to find a recipe to recreate at home. Found this recipe and it is next level good! The restaurant version filled the egg white cavity with the jam instead of putting it on top so that’s what I did also. In tandem, I cheated because I had a Costco sized box of boiled eggs going out of date in a week so that made things stupid easy. No eggs to peal! In total this week I made 52 deviled egg halves. There are 5 left that won’t last the morning here. Thanks for the great whiskey bacon jam deviled egg recipe!
