Firecracker Sauce lives up to its name with a burst of flavor and heat for a sweet and spicy sauce perfect to enhance a variety of dishes! It is an Asian-inspired sauce that is delicious on chicken wings, grilled meats, used as a dipping sauce, and more. Making your own lets you know exactly what ingredients are going into the sauce, so skip the store-bought varieties! I also have a Sweet Chili Sauce that you will want to try.
Ingredients & Substitutions
Buffalo Sauce: Look for buffalo sauce (not hot sauce, which is different) for this recipe. If you make your own buffalo sauce, you can make it as hot or as not as you like! Store-bought works well also.
Honey: Honey is added for the sweetness that contrasts with the spiciness from the buffalo sauce and Sriracha.
Sriracha: Sriracha gives the sauce more of a spicy kick. You can definitely add more (or use less), depending on how much heat you can handle!
Soy Sauce: Soy sauce contributes to the overall depth of flavor.
Rice Wine Vinegar: If you don’t have rice wine vinegar, you can substitute apple cider vinegar.
Seasonings: Garlic powder and ground ginger are added to the sauce for more flavor.
Is Firecracker Sauce Spicy?
Well, that is hard to answer, but yes, the sauce does have a spicy kick to it. However, it was not too overpowering at all with the honey balancing out the heat. It’s a blend of sweet, spicy, savory, and tangy flavors. All of our taste testers loved it and could see themselves using it in a variety of ways!

Selena
I was surprised at how much I loved this sauce. The other ingredients really balance out the buffalo sauce and the honey gives just the right amount of sweetness. The sriracha gave it just the right amount of kick.
Will definitely make this sauce, thanks,,,
Why on Earth would we need to use it within 2 weeks? All of the ingredients are super stable by themselves, so why would combining them shorten their life?
That is the safest recommendation I can provide. If you want to do something else in your own home, feel free.
could you use fresh ginger and garlic instead of the powders?
Obviously you’ve never worked for the health board.
