Air Fryer Buffalo Cream Cheese Tortilla Bites

I love appetizers that come together so quickly and still pack in lots of flavors. These tortilla bites start with flour tortillas and then are filled with a buffalo cream cheese mixture. And, the best part is that they come out nice and crispy after being cooked in an air fryer! If preferred, or if you don’t have an air fryer, I will also let you know how to fry these in a skillet.

Tortilla Bites Ingredients

Tortilla: I used plain flour tortillas for this recipe, but I think it would be fun to try some flavored tortillas next time. Or, make your own homemade flour tortillas to have for other pinwheel appetizers like my Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels.

Cream cheese: It is best to use room-temperature cream cheese.  One trick to get the cold cream cheese to room temperature fast is to fill a metal dish with hot water and submerge the contents of the foil packet into the water.  The cream cheese will be at room temperature in about 5-10 minutes. You can also take the block of cream cheese out of the package, cut it into small pieces, and let it come to room temperature.

Buffalo Sauce: Look for buffalo sauce, not hot sauce; they are different. You can also make your own homemade buffalo sauce.

Ranch Seasoning Mix: Just like the buffalo sauce, you can make your own dry ranch seasoning mix to use in this recipe.

How to Make Air Fryer Buffalo Cream Cheese Tortilla Bites

To make the bites, lay out the tortillas and evenly spread the buffalo cream cheese mixture over each one. I used 2 tablespoons of the mixture for each. Roll up the tortilla, cut off the ends, and cut each into 4-5 pieces. (You can definitely use the ends, too, if you want.)

After the tortillas are rolled and cut, brush melted butter over the tops of the bites. Place them in a single layer in your air fryer. You may have to work in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer. Air fry the tortilla bites for 5-6 minutes at 400°F. You can flip the bites halfway through the cooking time, but don’t worry about it if you don’t; they will still be amazing!

Remove the tortilla bites from the air fryer and serve them warm. They are delicious on their own, but as dipping options, serve them with more buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and/or blue cheese dressing. And don’t forget the celery!

Can I Make these Tortilla Bites Without an Air Fryer?

Yes! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can fry these in a frying pan or skillet. Fry the bites in melted butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the bites to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes per side. They will be golden brown. Serve warm.

What is the Best Air Fryer?

I have tested 3 brands in my home and I recommend the Ninja Air Fryer. (affiliate link) You can go up a size if needed, but it is superior in achieving consistent results and also ease of use. I’ve been very happy with this Air Fryer!
