Ingredients & Substitutions

Sour Cream: The base of the sauce is sour cream, which gives it a tangy flavor.

Honey: Honey is a natural sweetener that contributes to the overall flavor of the sauce.

Garlic Chili Oil: If you have not tried my garlic chili oil, do it! It is so good and adds a spicy, garlicky kick to this sauce.

Ranch Seasoning Mix: For the most flavor, make homemade dry ranch seasoning mix. Or, you could use a store-bought packet of the mix.

Dill: Freshly chopped dill is best, but you could use dried dill. If using dried, you will need about 2 teaspoons, or about a third of the amount of fresh.

Red Pepper Flakes: Red pepper flakes, or crushed red pepper, add a little more heat to each taste of the sauce. You can adjust the level of spiciness by leaving them out (for less of a kick) or adding more for more heat.

Is Hot Honey Ranch Spicy?

There is a slight kick to the taste of this hot honey ranch, especially at the end. However, it was not too overpowering to overtake the other flavors in the sauce. If you do not like spice, leave out the red pepper flakes. Then, add the amount you prefer to reach your desired spice level.

What the Test Kitchen had to say about this recipe:

Autumn

I was shocked at how much I loved this! The sweet and spicy combo was right up my alley, and the ranch flavor added a nice tanginess to the mix. I know what my next wing sauce is going to be!

Elizabeth

I love the slight kick at the end of this sauce! I tried it with french fries, which was delicious. I can't wait to try it drizzled over my pizza or with vegetables.

Annabelle

This sauce is super interesting! It has a slight heat, with more of a slow burn and a delicious tang! I can imagine that this would make a great addition to a veggie spread!

Bella

I tried the sauce coated on chicken multiple times and also dipped some fries in it. As a sauce, I don't think these flavors work for me. I mainly got a taste of sweetness from the honey, and a pop of dill flavor. Honey-based recipes are typically hit and miss for me anyway!

Selena

This was a fun and surprising dip! I wasn't sure how these flavors would all mesh together! But the end result is a flavor explosion. I really like it!

Rachael

I was actually surprised at how much I liked this! This combo is so different, I wasn't sure what I was going to think of it. But I kept going back for more! Give it a shot if you are a sauce person and like sweet spice.
