Air Fryer Fried Rice
Add this delicious side dish to your list of air fryer recipes! Fried rice can be served with a variety of foods from Pork Potstickers to Easy Teriyaki Chicken to Sweet and Sour Chicken, just to name a few main dishes that pair well with the rice. It is also a wonderful dish to enjoy as a light lunch. This dish is perfect with leftover rice, up to 2-3 days old, and any frozen vegetables you want to use. You could also add bits of protein like sauteed shrimp, beef, or rotisserie chicken to the rice to make it more hearty.
Fried Rice Ingredients
Rice: I used long-grain white rice for this recipe. Make sure it has been cooked and cooled (cold) before using it in the dish. That is why leftover rice is perfect for this fried rice recipe. But, if you are making this and have to cook the rice ahead of time, be aware of the time it will take for the rice to cool completely. For a slightly healthier option, you could use brown rice in place of white rice.
Vegetables: Frozen carrots and peas were the two veggies I added to the rice. You could definitely use frozen vegetables you have on hand.
Soy Sauce: Use the amount of soy sauce that works for you. I used 2 tablespoons in the recipe, but you could also start with a lesser amount and add more after the rice has cooked. It’s all about preference when it comes to soy sauce.
Sesame Oil: Sesame oil adds some more flavor to the rice.
How to Store and Reheat Fried Rice
Once cooled, store leftover fried rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat fried rice, warm it on the stovetop with a splash of water, or microwave it covered with a damp paper towel, stirring occasionally until heated through.
What is the Best Air Fryer?
I have tested 3 brands in my home and I recommend the Ninja Air Fryer. (affiliate link) You can go up a size if needed, but it is superior in achieving consistent results and also ease of use. I’ve been very happy with this Air Fryer and have used it for recipes like carrots, shrimp, french fries, baked potatoes, and even brownies, just to name a few!
