Chipotle Honey Vinaigrette is a flavorful dressing that combines smoky chipotle peppers in adobo sauce with the sweetness of honey and the tanginess of red wine vinegar. Use it to dress salads, drizzle over roasted vegetables, or use it as a marinade for grilled meats like chicken or steak. And, you should you this into the super viral Chipotle Cream Vinaigrette for Steak Quesadillas, too!
Ingredients & Substitutions
Red Wine Vinegar: Red wine vinegar provides the tangy base for the vinaigrette and adds a depth of flavor.
Chipotles in Adobo Sauce: These sauced peppers give the vinaigrette a smoky and slightly spicy taste. You can find cans of peppers in the Latin foods section at your local grocery store.
Honey: Honey adds a touch of sweetness to balance the heat from the chipotles and the acidity from the vinegar.
Oregano: Dried oregano gives the vinaigrette a savory and earthy note. If using fresh oregano, you will need 3/4 teaspoon to a full teaspoon. It may change the flavor profile a bit, but it will still be delicious!
Vegetable Oil: The vegetable oil serves as the base and helps to emulsify the other ingredients, creating a smooth and cohesive dressing. Be sure to add the oil slowly and gradually. If you add the oil too fast, the liquids will not emulsify (combine).
How To Use Chipotle Honey Vinaigrette
Besides your copycat Chipotle recipes like chicken and tacos, this vinaigrette can be used in a variety of ways. Here are a few ideas:
- Use it as a salad dressing over your favorite bed of greens.
- Pour it over bowls of rice, quinoa, or other grains for a burst of flavor.
- Marinate chicken, beef, or shrimp in the chipotle honey vinaigrette before cooking or grilling. Allow the protein to sit in the marinade for at least 30 minutes.
- Spread vinaigrette on your sandwich bread or a wrap for a zesty condiment.
- Add it to your vegetable tray for a dipping sauce.
How To Store Honey Vinaigrette
Chipotle Honey Vinaigrette should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last up to 5 days. Give it a good shake or stir before using.
