This Two-Ingredient Pulled Pork is an effortless, flavorful dish perfect for busy days—but honestly, I would serve it anytime, busy or not! The slow cooker makes the pork tender, juicy, and easy to shred, while barbecue sauce adds a smoky-sweet flavor everyone will love. If you love this easy slow cooker pulled pork, you will also want to try my Oven-Roasted Pulled Pork. Both are perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or even my Pulled Pork Hash!

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Pork: I used a center-cut pork loin (not to be confused with pork tenderloin, which is smaller) for this recipe. It’s lean, easy to find, and turns out tender in the slow cooker, especially with the barbecue sauce keeping it juicy.
  • Barbecue Sauce: Use your favorite brand of bottled barbecue sauce. Or, try this recipe with my homemade BBQ sauce, a Kansas City-style sauce.

Can I Use A Different Cut Of Pork For Pulled Pork?

Yes, you can definitely use a different cut of pork if you don’t want to use a pork loin. You can use other cuts like pork shoulder or pork butt. These cuts have more fat, which makes them richer in flavor, so you may want to use a less sweet BBQ sauce.

How To Shred Pork After Cooking

To shred pork after cooking, I like to use two forks. First, take the pork out of the slow cooker and place it on a plate or cutting board. Hold one fork in each hand, and pull the meat apart into small pieces. Keep shredding until it’s all pulled apart.

Can I Make Pulled Pork Without A Slow Cooker?

Absolutely, you can make pulled pork without a slow cooker. I have a couple of options you can check out–my Pulled Pork marinated in a dry rub, then baked in the oven, and my Oven Roasted Pulled Pork.

How To Store Leftover Pulled Pork

To store leftover pulled pork, first, let it cool to room temperature. Then, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Reheat the pork on the stovetop, in the microwave, or in the oven, adding a little barbecue sauce to keep it juicy. I love using leftovers in pulled pork nachos, pulled pork shepherd’s pie, or a pulled pork quesadilla—just to name a few! (Now I’m hungry!) For longer storage, freeze the pulled pork in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
