Hot Honey Skillet Corn blends sweet corn with a spicy, buttery glaze made from hot honey and cream cheese, then finished with fresh parsley. Both would be delicious additions to your Thanksgiving menu (do you know what day Thanksgiving is this year?) and Christmas menu. But, don’t wait for the holidays to make this side dish! It’s as easy to make as it is delicious!

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Butter: I prefer using unsalted butter to have control over the salt added to the recipe. Salted butter would work, too, but you may want to lessen the amount of salt. It’s easy to add salt to taste if needed.
  • Hot Honey: The key ingredient that defines this recipe is my homemade hot honey. (But, store-bought would work, too.) It’s a versatile sweet and spicy condiment made by infusing honey with red pepper flakes and apple cider vinegar. Once you try it, you will want to have it on hand for many other recipes besides this one! Check out my Hot Honey Fried Shrimp, Hot Honey Salmon Bites, and Spicy Candied Bacon, too! You could also just add some red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the honey to get some heat.
  • Corn: I used frozen sweet corn in this recipe. There is no need to thaw it, just add it to the skillet! Or, if you have an abundance of fresh corn on the cob, cut the kernels off of the cob and add them to the skillet. This recipe would also work with canned corn that has been drained.
  • Cream Cheese: I love the creaminess the cream cheese gives the dish. For a lighter option, you could try using plain Greek yogurt.

Is Hot Honey Skillet Corn Spicy?

This corn does have a kick to it, for sure. The level of spice depends on who is judging, of course. But, you can certainly add more red pepper flakes if you want more of a kick. Or, if making homemade hot honey, lessen the amount of red pepper flakes added. (That is why I like to make it homemade–it’s easy to customize the spice level.)

Best Dishes To Serve With Hot Honey Skillet Corn

If you are looking for a well-rounded meal, here are some of my favorite options that would pair really well with the corn:

  1. Grilled or Roasted Meats: Try Baked Pork Chops, Steak Bites, or Oven-Baked Chicken Bites.
  2. Holiday Feasts: It would be delicious with Honey Glazed Ham or Bacon Wrapped Turkey. (I would add a little bit of that bacon right into the corn, too!)
  3. BBQ Favorites: Check out my Pulled Pork (or Oven Roasted Pulled Pork) or Oven-Baked Ribs
  4. Pair the corn with comfort foods like mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese.
  5. Serve it alongside a wedge salad, coleslaw, or a hearty soup.

Storing & Reheating Hot Honey Skillet Corn

To Store: To store hot honey butter skillet corn, first, let it cool to room temperature. Then, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

To Reheat: Reheat the corn on the stovetop or in a microwave.

Can I Freeze Hot Honey Skillet Corn?

Yes, you can freeze the hot honey butter skillet corn, but, it may change the texture a bit. To freeze, first, let the corn cool completely. Next, keep it in a freezer-safe container or bag, leaving some room for expansion. Freeze the corn for up to 1-2 months. When ready to reheat, let the corn thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

Get ready to fall in love with Hot Honey Skillet Corn! This delicious side dish combines sweet corn with a spicy honey glaze for a perfect blend of flavors.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey (homemade or store-bought)
  • 24 ounces frozen sweet corn
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • To a large skillet over medium heat, add butter. Once melted, add hot honey and stir to combine.
  • Add the corn and stir to combine. Cook until heated through, stirring occasionally (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add cream cheese, salt, and pepper, and stir to combine. Cook until completely melted and heated through, stirring often (about 3-5 minutes).
